Google has announced that starting in January 2026, Gmail will discontinue two features. After this change, you will no longer be able to view emails from other accounts (such as Yahoo or Outlook) directly within the Gmail web interface.

1. Features to Be Discontinued

Gmailify
This feature allowed users to apply Gmail’s useful tools—such as spam protection, inbox categorization, and search—to other email accounts (like Yahoo or Outlook). It will no longer be available after the change.

Check mail from other accounts (POP)
Gmail will no longer automatically sign in to other email accounts to “fetch” messages.
In other words, Gmail will stop retrieving emails from external mailboxes.

2. Existing Emails Will Remain

Any messages already imported into Gmail before the feature is turned off will stay in your inbox and will not be deleted.

3. Use “Auto-Forwarding” Instead

Previously, Gmail could actively fetch mail from other accounts.
Now, Google recommends setting up auto-forwarding in your external mail service (such as Yahoo or Outlook)
so that new emails are automatically sent to your Gmail account.

Note: If you use the one-time import feature, it will only import emails from the last 30 days and cannot be used for continuous syncing.

4. Mobile Apps Not Affected

This change only applies to the Gmail web version.
The Gmail mobile app (on Android, iPhone, and iPad) will continue to support Yahoo, Outlook, and other accounts via the IMAP protocol, which is not affected by this update.
